Nailed it! Much better than I was expecting for an Italian restaurant in Nebraska. Called for a pickup order sunday afternoon, quoted 25 mins and was ready in around that time. The cashier remembered to ask if i wanted packets of cheese or crushed red pepper. Ordered a 8" super italian hoagie and a mini pizza half sausage and feta and half pepperoni and feta.pizza was very flavorful. Sausage comes under the cheese. The sub came on toasted bread which was just perfect. I've never seen a pickle on an italian sandwich before so i asked for it on the side and the cook wrapped it in cling wrap. I ended up eating it on the sandwich and it was yummy! The oil and vinegar must be their "house dressing" and i appreciated that they put this in a cup so the sandwich wasn't soggy. Meat was plentiful, prices surprisingly low. Tasted like a chicago sub! Just missing a little oregano Staff is very friendly, and the cook was singing in the back. Thank you!

My wife and I visited the Rockbrook Village store Friday afternoon 5/10. At 4:30 the cafe was very quiet but the Pizza was outstanding. We ordered the Bruschetta appetizer and inhaled it. So delicious. My wife ordered the Margarita pizza and I ordered the "New York finest". Absolutely marvelous. The ingredients were fresh and abundant. The mozzarella cheese was thick and fell in strings around each cut of pie. Don Carmelo's has been selling pies in Omaha since 1958 and they know how to create a pie. In my opinion all the other pizza houses pale in comparison. Our "go to" pizza house in all future visits.

This is good pizza for a change of pace; it's New York style which is readily available in Omaha; at the same time, it's different than the rest of the pack. We've only done takeout, so we can't comment on what the dine-in experience is like.

This neighborhood Pizza spot in the heart of Rockbrook Village has some of the city's very best pizza, in my opinion. The menu features a wider variety of topping choices than almost any other pizzeria, if you decide to create your own pie. They do a big takeout business but there are perhaps 8 or 10 tables in the dining room, mostly booths. There is a small but nice beer selection as well. The salads are also excellent. If you plan to dine in please call ahead as their web site isn't always updated with their correct post Covid hours of operation.

Today is my first visit to Don Carmelo's Pizzeria, founded in 1958 in Rockbrook Village. It's known for having "Omaha's first and finest New York style pizza". Since it was just me, I ordered the lunch veggie Stromboli. The restaurant was much smaller than I expected but had a cozy vibe. I ordered at the counter and then found an empty, clean booth by the window. There was lunch crowd, but everyone had space. There are two small TVs on the walls, but I don't think they added anything to the ambiance. My garlic bread came out quickly accompanied by steaming dish of red sauce. The bread was crisp with a lovely garlic topping enhanced by the slightly sweet red sauce. I gobbled it down. It was followed a few minutes later by the lunch portion Stromboli, steaming hot and covered in red sauce and a slice of melting provolone cheese. I could literally see steam wafting off the dish. It may have partially been that the room was still air conned, but I took no chances and let it cool a bit. There was plenty of marinara sauce to get through the whole dish, something that doesn't always happen. It was stuffed with mushroom, spinach, onion, roma tomato, broccoli, black olive, red onion, green pepper, and mozzarella. Lots of textures, both crispy and soft. It was delicious! I got a slice of tiramisu to take home for later and it was also delicious. Don Carmelo's has a larger location in Elkhorn that includes a party room. I think Bookguy and I will be coming to this location to try the pizza.

The wait staff was pleasant and helpful. It's order at the counter and then sit down situation, but they make it smooth and easy to do. We love their garlic bread sticks, prosciutto and mushroom pizza, and tomato and artichoke pizza. The breadsticks are soft and smothered in cheese. The marinara is tasty and hot. The pizza is nicely cooked, a little crispy on the bottom. Nicely appointed in toppings--not too many, not too few. And the cheese is just perfectly lightly browned on the bubbles--you know the ones that are a little chewy? So tasty. It wasn't busy on a Saturday at about 5:30 for dine in. The carryout was booking and a constant flow. Great for takeout. It's our favorite and we'll be back. The only thing I ding them on is that they didn't let the pizza sit long enough before serving and the cheese and toppings all fell off when pulled off the serving tray.

This place doesn't get enough credit, if you like a good New York style pizza give this place a try. Whenever we are in the area we always stop by to pick a few pies up for home. Fresh ingredients and always cooked exactly how we like it. I feel the Pizza at this location is far better than the one in Elkhorn. I would say the Rockbrook location is the best pizza I've had in Nebraska!!
